Introduction to Alternatives PDF Print E-mail
  • Every alternative consists of three parts:
    • Mode: type of transit vehicle used. It’s important to remember that each mode offers a number of options that can be tailored to meet the needs of a specific area.
    • Alignment: route used by the mode to connect to stations. An alignment can be in the street with other traffic, in a dedicated lane, or in a tunnel or aerial structure, grade-separated from other traffic and street activity.Stations: locations where passengers board or exit the transit system.
    • Stations can include amenities such as:  a station platform, shelter, ticket vending machines, and real-time information about transit operations.
