  • Extend transit service into Northeast Baltimore from Baltimore Metro
  • Connect Northeast Baltimore to the regional rail network
    • Central Light Rail Line
    • Red Line
    • MARC
  • Increase mobility in the Baltimore metropolitan area
    • Identify near-term improvement
    • Designate a corridor for long-range planning
    • Identify a Locally Preferred Alternative (LPA) – a route and service that will serve the needs of the community, will be eligible for federal funding, and serve as a foundation for long-range transportation and land use planning in the area.
  • Provide better transit connections to:
    • Morgan State
    • Johns Hopkins Medical Campus
    • Downtown Baltimore
    • Greater Baltimore Region
    • Other activity centers both in the community and throughout the region-places we hope the community will help us identify as part of this study.
  • Support community enhancement and investments by serving existing and future resources. Community resources should think about:
    • How transit can reduce traffic and parking demand.
    • Where stops can be placed to maximize security for passengers and integrate seamlessly into its public spaces.
  • Revitalize community
    • Encourage pedestrian-friendly environment
    • Reduce impacts to neighborhood
    • Foster economic growth
  • Enhance environmental quality – We will also be seeking ways to enhance the environmental quality of the study area by preserving historic, cultural, and natural resources while improving the quality of life in NE Baltimore.
